Miele Countertop Range Hood: A Complete Guide to Choosing the Right Model

by | Jun 30, 2026 | Home appliances

Miele countertop range hood: Choosing the right one makes all the difference between a kitchen that smells and one that doesn’t. It’s not just a matter of aesthetics—the type of range hood affects noise level, energy consumption, maintenance, and how well it integrates with your induction cooktop.

At Electro Selecció, we advise customers in Girona and the surrounding region on these types of decisions every day. In this guide, we’ll explain the different types of Miele range hoods available in 2026, the technologies they feature, and which one is best suited for your kitchen.

What types of Miele range hoods are available?

Miele organizes its range of range hoods into four different styles. Before choosing a model, you need to choose a style—because each one is designed for a different kitchen layout.

Flat range hood (built-in under cabinet) — It is installed under the upper cabinet, directly above the cooktop. This is the most common solution in kitchens with upper cabinets. It takes up little visual space and blends seamlessly into the cabinetry.

Filter unit — It is completely recessed inside the upper cabinet. Only the controls are visible from the outside. Ideal for kitchens where design is a priority and you don’t want any exhaust elements to be visible.

Wall-mounted range hood — The classic model. It is mounted on the wall over the countertop when there is no upper cabinet. It is available in stainless steel, obsidian black, and white finishes, in various heights and widths.

Downdraft Hood — Miele’s most innovative system. The range hood is built into the countertop and rises automatically when you cook. When not in use, it retracts into the cooktop module. Perfect for open-concept kitchens or kitchen islands without upper cabinets.

Ceiling range hood — Mounted to the ceiling above an island or central countertop. Combines ventilation with ambient lighting. A premium option for open-concept spaces and designer kitchens.

Silver Series — The Miele countertop range hood

The Silver line meets your basic needs with Miele quality. All models feature LED lighting, a washable stainless-steel grease filter, and a safety shut-off system.

DAS 2620 / DAS 2920 — Silver flat hoods
EasySwitch slider control—simple and intuitive. Available in 60 and 90 cm widths. No connectivity, no complications. For those who want a reliable Miele range hood at the best entry-level price.

DA 1260 — Integrated under Silver cabinet
It installs completely under the cabinet. Slide switch, integrated LED. Available in stainless steel and glossy white.

DA 2360 / DA 2390 — Silver Filter Units
Fully concealed extraction. Button controls, energy-efficient LEDs. The most discreet option in the Silver line.

PUR 68 W / PUR 98 W / PUR 98 D — Silver wall-mounted and island range hoods
EasySwitch touch controls, integrated LED. The PUR series stands out for its ultra-slim profile and its stainless steel or matte black finish. The D model is the island version (dual-direction extraction).

DAH 1650 Active — Silver Wall-Mounted Range Hood
Elegant touch controls, available in obsidian black and glossy white. A new addition to the Silver line with a more contemporary finish.

Gold Series — Connectivity and Smart Control

The Gold models feature Con@ctivity technology and Miele@home connectivity. Con@ctivity automatically connects the range hood to the Miele induction cooktop: when you turn on a burner, the range hood starts up on its own and adjusts its speed to match the heat level. It’s a convenience that, once you’ve used it, is hard to give up.

DAS 4620 / DAS 4630 / DAS 4920 / DAS 4930 — Gold Flat Range Hoods
The best-selling models in the line for kitchens with cabinets. The SmartControl panel (touch and rotary) makes adjusting the speed completely intuitive. The 4930 series adds an obsidian black finish for modern kitchens.

DA 9299 W Screen — Gold wall-mounted range hood
Blackboard glass front panel — a matte black surface that doubles as a chalkboard. A unique design feature not found anywhere else on the market. Intuitive SmartControl operation and Miele@home connectivity.

DAH 2960 Escala — Gold Wall-Mounted Bell
Stepped design with an obsidian black finish. Con@ctivity and touch control. Award for best design in its category.

Platinum Series — High-Performance Miele Countertop Range Hood

It is installed directly into the countertop or island and rises when activated. The ultimate solution for open-concept kitchens without upper cabinets.

The Diamond models feature touch controls, DynamicWhite ambient lighting (with adjustable color temperature), and the highest extraction airflow in the lineup.

DA 6698 W Puristic Edition 6000 — Diamond Wall-Mounted Range Hood
Puristic Design: brushed stainless steel, absolutely clean lines, with no visible elements when turned off. Touch controls and full connectivity. Also available in obsidian black.

DA 6698 D Puristic Version 6000 — Diamond Island Range Hood
The same Diamond technology, but in an island format — four-way extraction. For kitchens with a central island and high ceilings. Available in stainless steel or obsidian black.

DAC 4240 Stella Ambient — Diamond Ceiling Extractor
1,165 mm wide, AmbientLight with adjustable colors, full Miele@home connectivity. The most spectacular Miele downdraft extractor in the range — for kitchen spaces where the ceiling takes center stage.

How many cm wide do I need?

The basic rule: The range hood should be the same width as the cooktop or slightly wider.

  • 60 cm → for 60 cm plates. The most common size.
  • 75 cm → for 75-cm cooktops or stoves that produce a lot of steam.
  • 90 cm → for 90-cm cooktops or open-concept kitchens.
  • More than 90 cm → for large islands or professional kitchens.

If the range hood is narrower than the cooktop, it becomes less efficient: steam from the side burners escapes through the sides before reaching the suction area.

Exhaust to the outside or recirculation?

All Miele models operate in both modes.

An exhaust system vents air outside the building—it is the most efficient and requires the least maintenance. If your kitchen can be connected to the outside, this is the recommended option.

The recirculation system filters the air and returns it to the kitchen—no construction work or ductwork required. The activated carbon filter must be replaced every 6–12 months. Suitable for situations where an exhaust vent to the outside is not possible.
